Samuel, the goalkeeper of Portimonense, avoided the defeat of Portimonense, after defending a penalty in the final minutes of the debut of the Algarve in the current edition of the I Liga, in a game played today, Monday, at Estádio Municipal de Portimão. The final score was 1-1.

The first sign of danger appeared after 6 minutes and was given by Paços de Ferreira. But Portimonense wasted no time in showing their claws and threatened the opposing goal even before the quarter of an hour of play.

When everything wanted the game to go to half-time to zero, Paços de Ferreira took the lead after two minutes of the 45 regulation, following a corner.

Lucas Possignolo, pressured by pacense Marcos Baixinho, was unlucky and scored in his own goal, when trying to cut the ball.

On the return of the changing rooms, the Portimonense team did not take long to celebrate its first game and this edition of the I League, marked by the returned Fabrício. The Brazilian forward did what he had done so many times before, in his previous spells with Alvinegros, and scored the 1-1 in the 52nd minute.

The game remained lively, with both teams looking for the second goal. And it was Paços de Ferreira that created the best scoring opportunities, but without being able to get ahead, again, on the scoreboard.

At 93 minutes, a penalty was awarded in favor of Portimonense, for a hand in the area, but the referee reversed the decision after consulting the video referee.

Ironically, in the next move and when the 3 minutes of compensation were more than exhausted, the players of Paços de Ferreira asked for a penalty and the referee, who at first did not indicate the maximum punishment, ended up considering that it was a penalty after consult the VAR.

Douglas Tanque, the team's scorer, was responsible for taking the penalty, but the goalkeeper of Portimonense Samuel loomed and defended, avoiding the defeat of the Algarve.

Portimonense came with a draw in this edition of the I Liga and got 1 point, in as many games. In the next round, Portimonense will face Gil Vicente, in Barcelos (Sunday), if the Minho team is allowed to play, after the cases of Covid-19 detected in the squad, which prevented the game with Sporting, in the 1st round.
