Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) has already completed the rehabilitation works of the Alcoutenejo Bridge, at kilometer 80,704 of Estrada Nacional (EN) 122, in the municipality of Alcoutim.
The project was prepared internally by IP's technicians, and the contract was awarded for around 100 thousand euros, with an execution period of 85 days.
The purpose of the work was to maintain the bridge's structural and functional conditions, «prolonging its useful life and reinforcing its stability», says IP.
In terms of work, «the contract consisted essentially of strengthening the foundations, regularizing the bed, cleaning and removing the existing plaster, repairing and sealing cracks in the walls and finishing painting of the plastered surfaces».
The work also included paving work, with a view to reinforcing the waterproofing of the deck, mitigating the entry of water into the bridge's core, and drainage work, with the cleaning of the ditches and drain near the sidewalks.
