Lagos starts vaccination and electronic identification campaign for dogs

Interested parties must make an appointment

A vaccination and electronic identification campaign for dogs begins this Tuesday, 15 September, in Lagos.

The Anti-rabies Vaccination, Electronic Identification and Control of Other Zoonoses Campaign 2020 (CVARIE) is, this year, only for dogs (cats and ferrets are excluded).

Interested parties should make prior appointment through the numbers 282 780 900 or 925 525 017 (9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00), and the campaign will take place at the Municipal Kennel facilities with the mandatory use of a mask.

For this action, the fees to be applied by the Official Services are 10 euros for rabies vaccination, 1 euro for the health bulletin for dogs and 2,50 euros for electronic identification/registration of the dog.

In addition to the animal's documents, the owners of the animals must be accompanied by their Citizen Card or, in its absence, by their ID card and taxpayer number so that the respective collection receipt can be issued.

The campaign stems from the requirement that all dogs over three months of age present in the national territory have a valid anti-rabies vaccine, as well as the determination, for this year, to carry out an official anti-rabies vaccination and control of other zoonoses campaign, also establishing the realization of electronic identification in a campaign regime.

Rabies prophylaxis and other associated diseases can be transmitted from animals to humans (zoonoses).
