There are already winners of the 1st edition of the António Aleixo creative writing contest

The awards ceremony will be on February 18, 2021

The winners of the first edition of the Poeta António Aleixo creative writing contest, which ran from June 15th to August 23rd, are already known.

During this period, the five judges (Analita Alves dos Santos, António Manuel Venda, David Roque, Fábio Nobre and José Teiga) analyzed 700 texts, in 10 stages and the final results attributed the victory to Clara Andrade. Ana Simão was ranked 2nd and Carlos Musga ranked 3rd.

Clara Andrade, the winner of this first edition, is 58 years old, lives in Portimão, is a librarian by profession and composed the work “And above all, the camellias, a narrative with an intimate and poetic rhythm”, addressing the ontological feeling of the abyss, of the self , of the relationship with the other, but also the joy and the return.

Ana Simão, the 2nd classified, 55 years old, residing in Santarém, writer, created the work “A Búzia”, which presents old age, memories and the blurred line between sanity and madness or abnormality in a script punctuated by dialogue , in a narrative action of sinuous and enticing lines.

Carlos Musga, 3rd place, 65 years old, resident in Azeitão, retired, proposed the final work “Tudo boa gente”, a very Portuguese story based on portraits of common people (or not) from a well-written humorous and open-minded, in which one also meditates on the complexity of life and its fragility.

The top three will have their works published in a collection published by the publisher OnYva. The first place winner also receives a prize of 1000 euros.

The awards ceremony will take place on February 18, 2021, António Aleixo's birth date.

The Poet António Aleixo Creative Writing Contest is a route of literary obstacles that promotes the imaginative robustness of the participants. Over 10 stages, each one, having as its motto a block of the great popular poet of the Algarve, intends to give the competitors the basic idea for the construction of a transformative and relevant narrative, with a beginning, middle and end.

The António Aleixo Foundation sponsors the Poet António Aleixo Writing Contest. Loulé City Council supported the publication of the collection of this first edition.

The António Aleixo Foundation, created on the 25th of May 1995, is a private, non-profit and public utility institution, with social, cultural, artistic and scientific objectives.

The Foundation is committed to contributing to the development of the municipality of Loulé through a series of activities, highlighting social action projects for children, youth and senior citizens, cultural initiatives, editorial, training and educational activities. animation and the granting of scholarships to economically needy students.

The creative writing competition was the result of a challenge launched by two people from the Algarve to the António Aleixo Foundation: Analita Alves dos Santos, promoter of the Clube de Escrita Criativa para Jovens at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, in Portimão, and David Roque, promoter of the Clube de Escrita Creative of the Municipal Library of Lagos.
