Faro approves Strategic Plan for Culture

The Chamber of Faro unanimously approved, at the last meeting, on 21 September, its Strategic Plan for Culture. 

«The document, which intends to cover a decade, represents a fundamental step towards the presentation of the candidacy of Faro the European Capital of Culture and a key management tool, by providing autarchy for the development of the municipality», says the Chamber of Faro.

The proposal is the result of work started in October last year and resulted from an extensive search for information but also from a wide public participation that was attended by more than 300 people in different formats.

Subsequently, "the document was prepared taking into account the identified needs and future perspectives", says the municipality.

This resulted in a Strategic Plan for the Culture of Faro 2030, with 27 programs that result in various actions and projects.

This is, according to the municipality, the «first strategic plan for a city in Europe fully anchored in the Sustainable Development Goals».

The Program «establishes a set of objectives and visions for the future that seek to inspire the cultural development of the territory but also challenge for a work of increasing cooperation between cultural agents, other municipalities and other bodies of a local, regional, national nature. and international'.

During the months of August and September, the process of public consultation on the proposed plan, developed by the Municipality of Faro.

In addition to meetings with various entities, eight clarification and participation sessions were held in different locations in the municipality.

This extensive process of public discussion of the document, which was attended by more than 100 people, resulted in the final document that will now be subject to deliberation in the Municipal Assembly of Faro.
