In the municipality of Silves, 10 of the 33 legal spaces for the reception of motorhomes that make up RAARA are located

The Regional Development Services Directorate of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve) met, on 30 July, with the executive of the Municipality of Silves, to review the situation regarding the issue of motorhomes, evaluate the impacts of the pandemic in this segment of tourism and agree on actions to be developed in the short and medium term.

This meeting is part of the initiatives that CCDR Algarve has been promoting with the Municipalities where RAARA – Algarve Region Motor Caravans Reception Network are located, to assess the consequences of the pandemic and assess development in the sector.

In the municipality of Silves, 10 of the 33 legal spaces for the reception of motorhomes that make up RAARA are located.

Aspects related to the municipality's very positive and constructive response during the state of emergency, and the subsequent calamity situation, were highlighted, with regard to the approach to motorhomes.

The executive's intention was also reiterated in order to pursue its strategy of providing the municipality with legal spaces to accommodate motorhomes, whether by creating a public offer in low-density spaces, or by receptiveness to the intentions of the private sector.

The implementation of specific signs for motorhomes, recently approved, will also be one of the tasks that the Municipal services will develop in the short term, in order to contribute to the intended easy identification of the legal spaces that make up RAARA.

The municipal executive also expressed the intention, in conjunction with other entities with competences in this broad domain, to encourage inspection actions on illegal spaces and eradicate the outbreaks of illegal motorhomes that still exist in its territory.
