Portugal enters a state of contingency on 15 September

The entire country will enter a state of contingency from 15 September. It is the level in force in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo Region.

Thus, Portugal regresses from a state of alert, which is the least serious, to a state of contingency, which is intermediate. The most serious is the calamity, which was applied in 19 parishes in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Lisbon.

The decision, announced this Thursday, aims to allow the Government greater leeway to act when the return of students to school and the return of thousands of workers to work is expected, after months of confinement followed by vacations.
