Loulé distributes thousands of masks made in the county to cafes, shops and restaurants

Thousands of masks made by the seamstresses of the studio where the Carnival costumes are created, as well as professionals who joined this project, are being distributed by the Municipality of Loulé, from the coast to the interior.

This action has as a partner the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC), the entity that designed and conceived the model of the masks, ensuring the appropriate safety standards for prevention by Covid-19.

This initiative started in May, with the distribution of masks to residents of social neighborhoods, the elderly and professionals in the areas of intervention and civil protection, and families who used the Loulé Solidário line during the peak of the pandemic. In this first phase, more than 2 masks were distributed throughout the municipality.

Now, at a time when many tourists are on vacation in the municipality of Loulé, the municipality decided to extend this prevention action and distribute social masks (reusable) to the local businesses in the municipality, as a way to reinforce the safety of these professionals, as well as the image of the municipality as a safe destination.

All restaurants, shops or cafes are receiving kits that contain 2 masks, disinfectant wipes and an explanatory leaflet.

This is another initiative of the municipality of Loulé as part of the Covid-19 Action Plan and which, according to the municipality, «gains particular relevance in an exceptional context of Algarve tourism in which compliance with health safety rules is essential for visitors to feel insurance in this territory'.
