Today there are “Calçadas” in São Brás with an alternative format and cinema in Jardim da Verbena

The municipality's social networks will broadcast mini-concerts

Jardim da Verbena will host a movie session

“Calçadas – Arte goes to the street” returns today, as always on August 14, to the Historic Center of São Brás de Alportel, in an alternative format, which will include the screening of the documentary “Buena Vista Social Club”, as part of the cycle “Filmes de Semper”, from 21 pm, at Jardim da Verbena.

This is «an initiative that allows us to remember the nights of the 40's when the seventh art was a regular presence in Jardim da Verbena», highlights the São Brás de Alportel City Council.

Admission is free, but “with a view to the safety of all spectators, seats are reduced”. The use of a mask, social distance and compliance with public health and safety rules are mandatory.

Those interested should pick up their ticket at the Municipal Gallery or at Jardim da Verbena, a little before the session starts.

«Seeking to maintain the essence of this event», artistic works will also be carried out, in a reserved way, in collaboration with the Association of Designers of the South, which will be broadcast online through the Municipality's social networks and the Calçadas Organizing Committee – art goes out into the street.

The music that normally takes over the stages scattered throughout the historic center is also present in this alternative program, with a set of mini concerts that will be presented from 22:00 pm on the municipality's social networks, «which make known some of the musical groups that should to be participating live in Calçadas 2020, and whose participation is already rescheduled and guaranteed by the organization and the municipality for the 2021 edition».

The open-air cinema cycle promoted by the Municipality in partnership with Cinema Lua – Cinema Itinerante will return on Friday, 21 August. At 21:30 pm, the Churchyard of São Romão receives the film “The Postman by Pablo Neruda”.

Similar to the previous open-air cinema session, this is a free-entry event, but with limited seats, with the use of masks and compliance with social distancing and public health and safety rules as well.
