AHRESP: Postponement of the plastics law should be used to clarify companies and population

AHRESP, available for "necessary awareness campaigns".

The AHRESP (Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Services of Portugal» considers that the postponement of the plastics law «should be used to clarify companies and the population».

The legislation that determines the non-use and non-availability of single-use plastic tableware in catering and beverage activities, which was applicable from September 3rd, was postponed until March 2021, by a Resolution of the Council of Ministers last week .

AHRESP recognizes “the importance and need for measures aimed at protecting the environment, natural resources and reducing environmental risks”.

But it calls on the Government to "use the time until the new date, to clarify the various issues raised by the association" and that, together with AHRESP, "develop the necessary awareness campaigns".

On the other hand, the association denounces that the “extraordinary support for the reduction of activity continues without including all managers”.

Extraordinary support for the reduction of activity was provided by Social Security on 20 August and now covers all managers of micro and small businesses, as well as individual entrepreneurs, who carry out functions exclusively in this capacity.

But, according to information provided by Social Security, individuals who accumulate the work of manager with employee functions are automatically excluded from this support, regardless of the amount earned in this second activity.

AHRESP considers “it is imperative that support be extended to the entire universe of managing partners, who have been without any support from the State for five months”.
