Quarteira lifeguard assists kite surfer who fell into the water

Man was transported to Almargem beach, "where he landed safely and in good health"

A 45-year-old kitesurfer had to be assisted, this Thursday, July 16th, by the Quarteira Lifeguard Station after having fallen to the water due to lack of wind, 500 meters from the coast, near Almargem beach.

According to the National Maritime Authority, the alert was received by the Maritime Police picket. A semi-rigid vessel from the Quarteira Lifeguard Station immediately went to the site.

“At the same time, one of the lifeguards swam from the beach, using a lifeline, to the kite surfer, providing assistance,” he adds.

The man, of Portuguese nationality, was taken to the boat at Estação Salva-vidas and transported to Almargem beach, "where he disembarked safely and in good health".
