Praia da Alagoa and Praia Verde already have beach cams, which transmit real-time image. According to the Chamber of Castro Marim, this is a “strategic measure in the prevention of Covid-19 disease”.
«As this municipality is the holiday destination for hundreds of Portuguese, the Municipality of Castro Marim decided to invest in the implementation of beach cams on its beaches, the first in the eastern Algarve», emphasizes the municipality.
The installation of a surveillance camera at Praia do Cabeço is also planned, which will be the responsibility of the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).
The Chamber of Castro Marim emphasizes that the beach cams «allow you to view in real time the beaches of the municipality of Castro Marim, providing information on weather conditions (temperature, sea and wind conditions) and the degree of affluence and the state of occupation of the sand».
According to the municipality, «given the excellent location in which they are installed, it is possible to reach, with very good image quality, the entire coastal area of the municipality of Castro Marim, including the beaches of Cabeço and Verdelago».
This initiative is carried out in partnership with the “Infante Panorâmico” restaurant and the “Eurotel de Altura”, “which ensured the location of the equipment and assumed the costs of electricity, while the Municipality ensured the acquisition of the equipment and its installation and Internet expenses», explains the Chamber of Castro Marim.
The municipality emphasizes that the main objective of installing the beachcams is to «guarantee maximum security and information for users, seeking to promote Castro Marim as a trustworthy destination and thus stimulate and support economic activities that have been so damaged by the effects of the pandemic».
