There are no cases of Covid-19 at Lar de Marmelete, after the nurse tested positive

Monchique has, since the beginning of the pandemic, 12 cases of Covid-19

Users of the Elderly Home of Marmelete were tested again at Covid-19, after a nurse who provided support in this IPSS was diagnosed with the new coronavirus. The test results were known this Saturday and all came back negative.

The mayor of Monchique, in a publication on Facebook, explained that the health professional had contracted the virus due to a new chain of contagion "which is presumed to have originated in a hospital unit" and that, at first, "affected a 10-year-old child' and two relatives, as Sul Informação already managed.

Rui André guarantees that "this situation was given the quickest and most effective response and, until yesterday, all contacts made by these infected people were tested."

In addition to the tests at the Marmelete Elderly Home being negative, the professionals at the Monchique Health Center were also tested and found no positive cases of Covid-19. Still, they will remain in quarantine.

To ensure the normal functioning of the Monchique Health Center, an ACES team from outside the municipality was called upon.

In addition to this chain of contagion, there are active cases in the municipality of Monchique caused by an infection in the IPO, which affected six people and there is still, according to Rui André, an isolated case “which is presumed to have a connection with the festival in Lagos”.

Rui André clarifies that the situation in the county "is controlled" and limited to these transmission chains and that all situations are being properly monitored and cared for in order to contain any possible spread of contagion, in perfect articulation between the authorities of Health, Safety and the City Council».

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Monchique has 12 cases of Covid-19 and one recovered.

“Monchique remains a safe place”, concludes Rui André.
