Alcoutim Municipal Museum celebrates 25 years as a new image and new website

Museum will also edit catalog.

Alcoutim Municipal Museum will mark its 25th anniversary, which is celebrated in 2020, with the launch of a new image, the creation of a logo and a website.

As part of the museum's anniversary, the exhibition of Islamic games “Jogos Intemporais” will be renewed, a catalog will be published and, «in collaboration with several museums in the Algarve», there will be participation in the project "Backwards Archeology" by Charlie Holt and in the project “O MAR” of the Algarve Museum Network, with the production of the outdoor and itinerant exhibition “A Colónia Balnear Infantil de Alcoutim (1959-1962)”, the Municipality said.

At the headquarters of the Municipal Museum, the Museum of Rio, «several actions associated with the maintenance of the building and its collections will be developed, as well as the creation of an artistic project, in collaboration with the Satori Artistic Association, to celebrate the 25th years of
Museum".

The Alcoutim Municipal Museum «is a structure with several interconnected museum spaces, representative and interpretive of the different cultural and environmental realities of the territory and its communities: Rio Museum, Museum of Sacred Art, Museum of Archeology, The Primary School, Casa do Ferreiro, Dr. João Dias Museum, Menhirs do Lavajo, Ruins of Montinho das Laranjeiras, Castelo Velho de Alcoutim and Historical Nucleus of Alcoutim», explains the autarchy.

“There are currently six long-term exhibitions dedicated to ethnography, archaeology, ancient art and science, with sets of pieces resulting from donations, archaeological excavations and ethnographic collections, from various places in the municipality and the lower Guadiana”.
