Homes in Sagres and Budens lift suspension of visits to the elderly

Visits had been suspended in mid-June, as a means of prevention

The Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Vila do Bispo announced today, in a statement published on social networks, that visits to old people's homes in Budens and Sagres will be resumed as of Monday, July 6th.

According to Armindo Vicente, provider of the Misericórdia of Vila do Bispo, the decision was taken «in coordination with the Delegate of Public Health of Vila do Bispo, Dr. Luís Cadinha, the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Vila do Bispo, the Security Institute Social, the Health Authority of the Algarve Region and the Regional Secretariat of Misericórdias of the District of Faro».

The rules are the same that were in force before it was visits suspended as a preventive measure on 17 June following the Covid-19 outbreak in Lagos, affecting neighboring counties.

Santa Casa reminds that "it is still necessary to schedule the visit due to the limitation of 5 visits per day and per equipment" and that the visiting hours will be between 14:00 and 16:30, with a duration of 30 minutes, only during the days of week.

On the other hand, family members cannot deliver goods or food directly to the elderly, and visits or approaches to users outside these periods or without the institution's monitoring and knowledge are prohibited.

In addition, during visits, family members/visitors will have to wear personal protective equipment, while visiting spaces are indicated by the institution.
To ensure everyone's safety, before and after all visits, spaces are disinfected and registration is carried out.

If, after a visit, someone reveals symptoms, the SCM of Vila do Bispo asks "the diligence of immediate communication to the technicians responsible for the visits."

The institution also undertakes “to closely monitor the epidemiological scenario and to reinforce or alleviate measures on visits to users through articulation with the entities”.

The Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Vila do Bispo adds that “it will continue to follow all the guidelines of the World Health Organization and the General Directorate of Health, adopting, responsibly and prudently, their recommendations. It will also monitor and implement all decisions taken by the oversight bodies».
