Fartoon returns to MAR Shopping Algarve with its third edition inspired by migrations

The 35 finalist cartoons were selected from 250 works from 21 countries.

O FARTOON – Cartoons Show by Faro can now be visited at MAR Shopping Algarve, where the finalist cartoons will once again be highlighted until the 7th of August.

Organized by Faro 1540 – Association for the Defense and Promotion of the Environmental and Cultural Heritage of Faro, the international exhibition is inspired by a current theme, “Europe and the migratory phenomenon”, and is evident in the Mango area.

This edition of FARTOON, now on display again, had the biggest influx of entries ever. The 35 finalist cartoons were selected from 250 works from 21 countries.

Promoting the cartoon as a «form of expression and communication», FARTOON also aims to «make known new talents».

With the theme "Europe and the migratory phenomenon", the FARTOON - Cartoons Show by Faro «it raises awareness of contemporary society themes, one of the roles attributed to cartoons as an art form».

Participants were challenged to consider the various causes and origins of migration, including conflicts, religious and racial prejudices, as well as climate change and environmental problems.

Among the finalists is the cartoon by the Portuguese Hélder Peleja, as well as works from as different countries as Brazil, Turkey, Russia, France, Syria or Cuba, among others. The first prizes were awarded, respectively, to Sava Babic, from Serbia; J. Kustana, from Indonesia; and Ali Shafai from Iran.
