Covid-19: DGS ensures that data in Portugal is reliable

Graça Freitas admits, even so, "refinements to be made" in relation to the numbers of the councils

The director-general of Health assured today that the data on the number of covid-19 cases in Portugal are reliable, noting that the information in the daily bulletins is “as close as possible to reality”.

“It has nothing to do with hiding cases. The level of cases reported at national level is the number we are aware of”, assured Graça Freitas at the regular press conference on the pandemic in Portugal, where he was asked about doubts regarding the data in the daily bulletins.

The Director-General of Health stressed that the total number of confirmed cases provided daily to the country "is reliable" and that in recent months it has improved in the way it "is extracted, compiled and quickly transmitted to all Portuguese and internationally".

Graça Freitas argued that the “fine-tuning to be done” is not in relation to the total number of cases, but in relation to the municipalities.
