New Algarve Regional Section of the Ordem dos Arquitetos will be led by Luis Matos

Gonçalo Byrne was elected president of the Order of Architects

List A – An Order Present in the Algarve was the winner of the elections for the Regional Section of the Algarve, which took place on the 26th, according to the provisional results released by the Ordem dos Arquitetos (OA).

The governing bodies of OA's Algarve Regional Section will be headed by architect Nuno Freitas, elected chairman of the Board of the Assembly, architect Esmeralda Palma, elected chairman of the Disciplinary Board, and architect Luis Matos, elected chairman of the Board of Directors.

The ballot is still formally provisional, with the final results expected to be known by 8 July. The inauguration will take place until the 17th of July.

Born in Portimão, the still Delegate of the Assembly of the Order of Architects for the Algarve, Luis Matos, architect at the service of the Municipality of Monchique for 17 years, takes on the responsibility of implementing, with the team that gained the trust of the Algarve electorate, to implement this new Section of the Ordem dos Arquitetos and «to meet the needs of architects in the region, developing actions directed to the most specific issues of the practice of the profession in the Algarve and framing them in the interests of all architects in the country».

With the motto “An Order Present in the Profession, throughout the Territory and in Society”, whose national campaign leader was the architect Daniel Fortuna do Couto, this team hopes to have the support of all those elected in this suffrage.

In particular, from the National Organs led by the new president of the Order, the architect Gonçalo Byrne, with the hope that “synergies will be promoted to do the best work for the benefit of the class, in the next three years”.

The newly elected team thanks all those who voted in these elections and all those who placed their trust in List A to implement this Regional Section in the Algarve.
