Loulé launches books on climate action on Children's Day

Books will be distributed by the council's students

This Monday, June 1st, World Children's Day, Loulé City Council launched two books for the youngest, dedicated to the theme of climate change.

"Initially, the distribution of books in schools was planned, but with the closure of educational establishments due to the Covid-19 outbreak, only in September, at the start of the 2020/21 school year, students, teachers and other action technicians will receive the books», explains the Câmara de Loulé.

The book “CLIMAAT 100” and its “Activity Book” “were developed with the purpose of alerting and informing in a clear and fun way the 1st cycle students of the county about the problem of climate change, with a great focus on the county territory. Both publications result from the Municipality's work in implementing the Municipal Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, providing the youngest with greater knowledge about current and future vulnerabilities and impacts, to better prepare the planet's present and future», explains the municipality .

For the Municipality of Loulé, «in a time as complex as the one we are currently experiencing, it is public knowledge that Education and Climate Action continue to be the fundamental pillars of the local development strategy and one of the great aims of municipal public policy, for a a better future'.

Vítor Aleixo, president of the Loulé autarchy, considers that «investing in Education and the Environment is, for the executive I have the honor to lead, an essential bet and the right path for a better, more sustainable future and, consequently, with more conscious and happy”.
