Faro delivers 1000 gel dispensers to merchants

In total, the municipality will provide 1000 dispensers

The Chamber of Faro began, this Thursday, June 18, to deliver the first 300 disinfectant gel dispensers, in a total of 1000, to merchants in the municipality.

The moment, which took place this morning before the presentation of the future Social Emergency Accommodation Center of the Algarve, was attended by Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber.

In total, the municipality will provide 1000 dispensers, in an initiative that has the support of ACRAL (Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region), AIHSA (Association of Hotel, Restaurant and Beverage Industries), Associação da Baixa de Faro and Cultural and Activist Association of Baixa de Faro (OCAB).

For this initiative, carried out under the project "Faro Protege”, 808 merchants signed up and signed a term of responsibility.

The purpose of the delivery of these dispensers, which will continue in the coming days, is "to ensure the greatest possible protection for owners, employees and customers, as well as the population in general."

The investment of the municipality was 89 thousand euros (85.793 euros for the dispensers and 3710 euros for the disinfectant gel).

Bearing in mind that this is one of the recommendations and practices to be adopted with the best results for the containment of Covid-19, the Municipality says it considers it essential that all establishments be able to offer this security to customers and employees.

"This measure aims to attract those who buy and give security to those who sell, and, thus, we can help to strengthen an environment of trust among all and encourage a return to normality possible at this time," said Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro.
