The Director-General of Health today called for people to enjoy the bathing season, which began today, without forgetting the rules, and asked especially young people not to contribute to the spread of Covid-19.

At the daily press conference on the epidemiological situation of the new coronavirus in Portugal, Graça Freitas asked that citizens “have fun, relax, that they have the right to rest and freedom from confusion. But do not forget that we are facing an epidemic, that this is a contagious disease, that is transmitted and, therefore, we will have to have rules ”.

Graça Freitas stresses the importance of maintaining physical distance from people outside the household, not sharing bottles, glasses or other objects, in addition to recommending the use of a mask and proper hygiene.

The Director-General of Health addressed especially to the youngest, so that they take the necessary precautions not to be agents of transmission of the virus and do not put others at risk.

“Our appeal is very much to the young population, which fortunately suffers little from the consequences of the disease, but which contributes for the disease to spread among others, to reach older people, more vulnerable people and, above all, what we do not. we want, which is to keep transmission chains active in our country, so that our social life and our economic life return to normal, as soon as possible, as soon as possible ”, underlines the head of the Directorate-General for Health.

According to Graça Freitas, the authorities will be attentive to the way the bathing season will start.

Also the Minister of Health, Marta Temido, asked that the rules of social distancing, respiratory etiquette and hand and surface hygiene be complied with, appealing to “individual conscience and civility”.

“The best way to honor all those who continue to work at this moment and do their best to respond to the essential needs of the Portuguese is for each of us to always bear in mind that the performance of each one conditions what health services are and essential services ”, stressed the minister.

A problem in the information system used by the Directorate General of Health to produce the daily bulletin on the Covid-19 pandemic made it impossible to release the data at the usual time.
