camera of Faro awards work for the Official Animal Collection Center

This equipment will be built in the Medronhal area, in Guilhim

The Chamber of Faro has just approved this Monday, June 15, the award of the work for the construction of the Official Collection Center (CRO) Animal.

The contract will be awarded to the company Rui Vilaça Pinheiro, Lda, for around 1,1 million euros and a completion period of 455 days.

«This equipment will be built in an area isolated from housing agglomerations, in the Medronhal area, in Guilhim, and intends to fill a gap that is felt in Faro for tens of years, housing abandoned animals in the municipality», says the Chamber of Faro.

The project foresees a maximum capacity between 163 and 173 animals, including a nucleus for animals for adoption, a nucleus for animals in quarantine, 16 collective cells for cats and a kennel area with 42 collective boxes.

The structure will also have areas for outdoor circulation and two recreational parks for animals, in addition to administrative areas and treatment and veterinary medicine.

«This project is in line with a guiding principle of respect and preservation of animal welfare and dignity followed by the Municipality of Faro, which has also been establishing partnerships with associations for the defense of the animal cause and carrying out awareness campaigns against abandonment, abuse and care of animals», says the municipality.

In addition, the Municipality «has adopted measures such as carrying out projects of capture, sterilization and return with excellent results and, in addition, it does not accept the realization of circus shows in public spaces with animals in captivity», he concludes.
