The president of the PSD announced today that the party decided not to hold the festival in Pontal, in Algarve, or Chão da Lagoa, in Madeira, due to covid-19, justifying the decision with “the rules of common sense”.

“Following the rules of common sense, and respecting the law and the health of all of us, the PSD decided not to hold any of its summer parties, namely Chão da Lagoa in Madeira and Pontal in Algarve. Only with discipline and unity will we be able to win the covid-19”, wrote Rui Rio in a post on the social network Twitter.

The PSD/Madeira had already announced on April 16 the cancellation of the Chão da Lagoa parties and the rentrée on the island of Porto Santo, due to the covid-19 pandemic.

In recent days, controversy has been generated by the eventual realization in September of the PCP's traditional 'rentrée', the Festa do Avante! party does not have a “closed position” on its realization, and affirming that “the Portuguese communists are very creative”.
