218.750 euros is the total endowment of the tender launched today, under the Algarve Regional Operational Program (CRESC Algarve 2020), with a view to drawing up and implementing Municipal Plans for Equality and Non-Discrimination. Until the 13th of July, Municipal Councils from this region can apply.

“A municipal plan for equality is not a document of intent. It is an effective working tool, with concrete policy measures to combat gender inequalities that essentially penalize girls and women; to prevent and support victims of domestic violence; to materialize measures to reconcile professional, personal and family life − which benefit people and companies −, transport, sports and youth, employment and culture policies that do not leave anyone behind”, says Rosa Monteiro, Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality.

“If municipalities are in the first line of proximity in responding to people's needs, no good municipal policy can happen if it does not take into account the different conditions and needs of women and men, because there are no universal or neutral subjects. Equality policies can no longer be seen as a mere discursive policy by the municipalities, but as part of the core of all their sectorial policies”, adds the governor.

This notice is presented by the Secretariat of State as “a fundamental instrument for the territorialisation of equality and non-discrimination policies, in line with the National Strategy for Equality and Non-Discrimination – “Portugal + Equal”, and the Prevention and Equal Action Plan. combating human trafficking, recognizing municipalities as crucial and strategic agents”.

To cover the rest of the territory, two more tenders are open with a view to drawing up and implementing Municipal Plans for Equality and Non-Discrimination.

Thus, until 15 June, within the scope of POISE (Operational Program Social Inclusion and Employment), with an allocation of 3,311 million euros, local government entities in the North, Center and Alentejo, such as Municipal Councils, Metropolitan Areas and Intermunicipal Communities.
