Lagos Levante Market reopens in new location

This week the refurbishment work on the building where this market operates will begin.

The Levante Market, in Lagos, will reopen next Saturday, June 6th, in temporary premises in the parking lot of the Complexo Desportivo de Lagos, in São João, between 7:00 am and 14:00 pm.

The choice of a new location for this weekly market, which takes place on Saturday mornings, «is related to the need to comply with the safety requirements in the context of the pandemic», he announced to Câmara de Lagos.

«With an area of ​​10 thousand square meters and capacity for 500 customers, this location allows us to maintain the social distance applicable in this context. Despite starting to work outdoors, the use of mask and/or visor will be mandatory, either by sellers or by customers», according to the municipality.

The return of this street market is part of the strategy of deconfinement of the municipality of Lacobrigense, within which municipal spaces and facilities have been reopened, «in order to resume the normality of the activity, although always subject to strict hygiene measures. and security".

«This reactivation of the market also takes place in the week in which the contract to refurbish the building where the Levante Market, also known as “Agrarian Reform” has been operating for several decades,” added the Câmara de Lagos.

The work will cost around 300 thousand euros and «aimed at providing the space with better thermal comfort conditions for sellers and the public, promoting its attractiveness and reinforcing the role of the fruit and vegetable producers market in the local economy».
