Lagos: Construction of the new basic school in Luz started

Work will cost around 3 million euros

The construction of the new school EB1 + Kindergarten da Luz, in the municipality of Lagos, started this week. The work should be completed within about a year and a half.

The contract for this undertaking had already been signed on 9 March, with the start of the work, budgeted at around 3 million euros plus VAT, depending on the authorization of the Court of Auditors, which was recently given.

According to the Câmara de Lagos, promoter of the work, the construction of this new school equipment “will allow to increase the number of pre-school and 1st cycle rooms in the municipality and redefine the school network throughout the parish”.

This is also "the last intervention in the cycle of requalification and expansion of the school park that the municipality of Lagos has been carrying out and within which new equipment has been built and all the existing ones have been re-qualified throughout the municipality" .

The new school is being built on municipal land near the road that read Espiche à Luz.

«The building will have eight classrooms spread over two floors (four for basic education, two for expressions and two for Kindergarten). It will also have a kitchen, cafeteria, multipurpose room, library, teachers' room, room for non-teaching staff, parents' care office, changing rooms and toilet and support facilities. Outside, the venue will be equipped with a multi-sport, a covered and uncovered play area, an area for playing traditional games, an educational vegetable garden, green spaces and parking. All outdoor recreational areas will be interconnected by ramps, ensuring barrier-free accessibility», described the municipality of Lacobrigense.

Another "fundamental project for the parish of Luz that is about to start" is the contract for the Requalification of the road between Quatro Estradas and Vila da Luz, awarded for a value of around 1,6 million euros, plus VAT , "whose contract has also been endorsed by the Court of Auditors".
