António Costa calls for unity between the State and companies in protecting jobs

This year, Labor Day is marked "in a different way"

The prime minister called for unity between the State and companies in defense of jobs, in a message about the 1st of May, noting that the day will be commemorated in a different way today because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This position was conveyed by António Costa on his personal account on the social network Twitter, in a message dedicated to the Labor Day celebrations.

“We live in times when workers, the State and companies share efforts to preserve jobs. Knowing how to be united in this cause, protecting those who work and their work, must be the main message on this day», sustained the prime minister.

In his message, António Costa referred to the current health crisis caused by Covid-19, pointing out that this year is marked «Workers' Day in a different way».

“The pandemic is also leaving its marks on the job market. In exceptional times, we must always make it a priority to defend work, its dignity and importance in a society that wants to be fairer”, he concluded.
