O Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) will start testing the employees of daycare centers in the Algarve, Baixo Alentejo and Alentejo Litoral, from next Monday, 4th of May.

In total, 1450 employees from 96 day care centers in the Algarve and around 670 employees from 48 day care centers in Baixo Alentejo and Alentejo Litoral will be tested.

On Monday, the tests begin to be done at the António Aleixo Foundation, at 10:00 am, followed by the Casa da Primeira Infância, both in Loulé.

The start of the tests will be accompanied by José Apolinário, Secretary of State appointed by the Government for the regional coordination of measures related to Covid-19, by Vítor Aleixo, Mayor of Loulé, Margarida Flores, the district director of Social Security, and Nuno Marques, president of ABC.

The testing under the responsibility of ABC is part of the program of diagnostic tests for the new coronavirus in day care centers, promoted by the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, with laboratories of scientific and academic institutions duly certified by the INSA.

At the national level, the objective is "to test the approximately 29 workers of more than 2 crèches in the country before their opening, scheduled for Monday, May 18", explained the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Security Social.
