The 1st Poet António Aleixo Creative Writing Championship is open until 12 June.
“The times we live in can serve as a stimulus for literary creation and the emergence of new talents”. Therefore, the António Aleixo Foundation says that it sponsored the creation of this championship «which aims to become a national reference».
The 1st Championship «is a course of literary obstacles, promoting the imaginative strength of the participants. Over 10 stages, each one having as its motto a block of the great popular poet of the Algarve, it is intended to give competitors to the construction of a transforming and relevant narrative».

The 1st place will also receive a prize of 1000 euros.
Otherwise, the initiative will take place online (here) and is open to all citizens of Portuguese nationality, over 18 years of age, who are or are not in national territory. Registration for the entire championship costs 20 euros.
Enrollments started on the 25th of May, the 25th anniversary of the António Aleixo Foundation, and end on the 12th of June.
The first challenge will be released on June 15th. The announcement of the winners will be on the 14th of September.
The awards ceremony will take place on February 18, 2021, António Aleixo's birth date.
This creative writing championship is the result of a challenge launched by two people from the Algarve: Analita Alves dos Santos, promoter of the Creative Writing Club for Youth at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, in Portimão, and David Roque, promoter of the Municipal Library's Creative Writing Club of Lagoon.
The António Aleixo Foundation, created on the 25th of May 1995, is a private, non-profit and public utility institution, with social, cultural, artistic and scientific objectives.
