A 40-year-old man who was robbing a bank in Boliqueime last Thursday night, April 9, was arrested, in the act, by the GNR.
In a statement, the GNR Territorial Command of Faro account that the alert for the theft was given during the night, when the suspect was still inside the bank. The military, upon arriving at the scene, surrounded the building.
Upon realizing the presence of the GNR, the man tried to flee through an adjoining house, but was eventually intercepted and arrested.
The robber already had, outside the bank, a safe and, inside, there were «several thousand euros», which the GNR prevented from being stolen.
The suspect, who already had a criminal record for kidnapping, passing a false note and theft, after being present at the Judicial Court of Loulé, this Saturday, April 11, was placed in preventive detention in the prison in Olhão.
