Docapesca completes rehabilitation of VRSA auction floor

"To guarantee the functioning of these services and the conditions of hygiene and food safety, the works were carried out only in the afternoon"

Docapesca completed the contract for the rehabilitation of the pavement of the forklift path of the fish auction at the fishing port of Vila Real de Santo António (VRSA). 

This work was carried out in the «scope of improving the physical, hygiene, safety and environmental characteristics of the auction, where reception and first sale of fresh fish after landing are carried out», explains Docapesca.

During the course of the work, Docapesca says that “it ensured the operation of the auction, with an auction in the morning and the reception of fresh fish. To guarantee the normal functioning of these services and the conditions of hygiene and food safety, the works were carried out only in the afternoon».

 

 

With 14 million euros, the auction in Vila Real de Santo António was, in 2019, the one that registered the highest value in sales of fish in the Algarve, which represented a growth of 7,6% compared to the previous year.

In terms of the amount of fish traded, Vila Real de Santo António was the fifth largest in the region, with 1,3 thousand tons (+11,1%).

Also in 2019, Docapesca obtained the extension of the certification of the food safety management system for the auction in Vila Real de Santo António.
