Covid-19 does not stop libraries in the Algarve from continuing their mission

Today, April 23, is World Book Day

Story hours, reading suggestions and dissemination of reliable informative content. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Algarve Libraries did not give up their mission of «disseminating and disseminating knowledge».

Today, which is World Book Day (April 23), the event will be marked differently by the libraries that make up BIBAL – Algarve Libraries Network.

Interested parties can consult the website and their presence on the social networks of each library to learn about the planned activities. Also the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries, through the your site, discloses services and initiatives of many libraries across the country, which can be consulted here

Despite being closed to the public, BIBAL libraries continue to offer several services, just a click away. Story hours, reading suggestions, training, dissemination of reliable informative content (e-books, websites or news) are examples of this.

BIBAL, aiming at the strategic development of the region with regard to library services, was formalized through the signing of a cooperation agreement by the 16 municipalities of AMAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve, in a partnership that also includes the Library of the University of Algarve and the General Directorate of Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB).

The network, which includes 25 municipal libraries, three itinerant libraries and three university libraries, is based on cooperation between different entities and aims to develop network services.
