Covid-19: São Gonçalo de Lagos Hospital resumes normal activity on Monday

Permanent Service will return to work with shorter hours

The Hospital of São Gonçalo de Lagos will resume its normal activity next Monday, 3 May, after having been exclusively dedicated throughout the month of April to the treatment of patients infected with Covid-19.

According to the HPA, the decision “is due to the fact that we are fortunately having a very low incidence rate in the Algarve, which does not justify us continuing to allocate resources to this situation, which are very large resources, either economically or in professionals".

According to the group, "during the month that we were fully dedicated to Covid, we received about thirty patients, and fortunately only one ended up in intensive care, while the rest remained under surveillance or treatment in an infirmary."

The HPA explains that “at this moment, and according to the unanimous opinion of the Order of Doctors, the General Directorate of Health and all medical societies, people need to be helped and treated with regard to other diseases, which we know are evolving. exponentially, many even with a fatal outcome».

Therefore, "it is necessary that people resume surveillance of their health, monitoring the care they need, otherwise we will see situations with painful outcomes."

Despite the reopening of normal activity at Hospital São Gonçalo de Lagos, the hours of Permanent Care will be reduced.
