There are 300 cases of Covid-19 in Algarve and 156 in Alentejo. Nationally, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus is now 18841 confirmed cases and there are 629 deaths to be regretted, according to today's data from the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS), which has just been released.
Compared to yesterday's numbers, the Algarve has five more infections, from 295 to 300. In Alentejo, today there is one more case than yesterday. In Portugal, the increase was 750.
The number of deaths remains the same in the Algarve (9). As for deaths, there are none to lament in the Alentejo region.
At the national level, the highlight is the high increase in the number of recovered people, which rose by 110 since yesterday, from 383 to 493.
With regard to deaths, there are now 629 confirmed, 30 more than yesterday, when there were 599. The North is the region with the most deaths recorded (355), followed by the Center (146), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (115) , Algarve (9, same as yesterday) and Azores (4, same as yesterday).
This is the distribution of cases by region: North (11.237), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (4237), Center (2756), Algarve (300), Alentejo (156), Azores (102) and Madeira (53, minus 6 than yesterday). These last three regions do not register, according to the bulletin of the DGS, new cases compared to Wednesday.
The DGS advances, although there are 1302 hospitalized people, 102 more than yesterday, 229 of which are in intensive care (21 more).
Currently, 3910 citizens are awaiting laboratory results, while another 26065 are in surveillance contact with the health authorities.
As of January 1, the total number of suspected cases was 154.727, but 131.976 of those have not been confirmed.
