Local merchants from Faro will receive protective visors, as part of an initiative that joins the Faro 1540, the District Makers of Faro, the Parish Union of Faro and the Association of Merchants of the Baixa de Faro. The aim is to “promote local commerce with confidence”.

«At a time when local commerce is being heavily hit by the economic effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the vast majority of stores and restaurants forced to close their doors, while maintaining the fixed costs associated with the business, multiplied the appeals and initiatives to support small traders», explains the Faro 1540, in a note sent to the editorial offices.

The association explains that, «following the campaign to collect the materials needed for the production of protective visors for those who are on the front line in the fight against Covid-19, in partnership with Makers Distrito de Faro», challenged the Makers District of Faro, the Parish Union of Faro and the Baixa Merchants Association «joining efforts, extending the campaign to distribute visors to local merchants in Faro, with the aim of reinforcing protective and confidence-building measures in this different and challenging period».

Paulo de Oliveira Botelho, chairman of the board of Faro 1540 explains that the association recognizes "the importance of safeguarding local and traditional commerce, due to its relevant role in the cultural sphere, of valuing the city's historical heritage and traditional experiences" and that "for this reason, we seek solutions that converge towards the return to the experiences of the Farenses with their Baixa».
