The local authority, in conjunction with the municipality's Schools Group, decided to broaden the criterion of providing this social service at no cost to the beneficiary, a measure that could "reach hundreds of new students, with families in such situation of economic need equivalent to grade A and B, contact the Municipality's Social Action Office on the number 281 510 742».

«The council's Schools Group reopens the main cafeteria for cooking and the local authority is responsible for the distribution of meals, ensuring their transport to all students living outside the Altura and Castro Marim clusters, where there will be points of collection, and supporting the value that exceeds the support of the State in relation to Echelon B», explained the Castro-Marinean Chamber.

Thus, the menu of the General Directorate of Schools, "will be weekly and supervised by a nutritionist at the service of the Municipality in conjunction with the health delegate."

«In a first phase, the Castro Marim City Council counts, for door-to-door distribution, on municipal employees, who see their functions temporarily readjusted to the mission. However, if this possibility is exhausted, the municipality will resort to the volunteer grant that has been developed to support those in greatest need due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” added the Chamber.

Meals, recalls the municipality, «must be requested in advance, so that all resources are managed as efficiently as possible. For this purpose, parents or guardians should contact the school at 281 531 708 or 963 902 357».

The Castro-Marina Municipality is considering "adapting its canteens and extending the social canteens system to the majority of families with increased economic difficulty".
