Teatro D. Maria II presents three shows at Teatro de Portimão until June

Three productions with the seal of the National Theater D. Maria II (TNDMII) will go on stage at the Municipal Theater of Portimão, between March and June.

The first of the three shows produced by TNDMII, the play “Antígona”, by Sófocles, staged by the artist Mónica Garnel, is already scheduled for Saturday, the 7th, at 21 pm.

After premiering in Lisbon, in September, the play is now presented in Portimão within the scope of Rede Eunice, a project for the dissemination of shows produced and co-produced by TNDMII.

«André Simões, Carolina Passos-Sousa, Diana Lara, Inês Vaz, Isaías Viveiros, João Grosso, Joana Pialgata, Laura Aguilar, Lúcia Maria, Manuel Coelho, Pedro Moldão and Pedro Russo give life to the first staging of actress Mónica Garnel, which she led for the stage the result of her work at Casa Conveniente and at Zona J de Chelas with actress and director Mónica Calle», according to Câmara de Portimão.

To join the cast, «composed of interns from the Conservatory and renowned actors», Mónica Garnel also invited street dancer Maurice to join the traditional choir, «which is not limited to verbally commenting on the events, but uses multiple languages ​​such as singing, dance or spoken word».

«The result is an up-to-date 'Antigone', with a smell of the 90s, grunge, rock and roll, a girl who has many faces and many bodies, who could be any woman who, anywhere in the world, pays with her life. his disobedience to power», added the Portimonense autarchy.

This season, Rede Eunice will also bring to Portimonense theater the plays “Another end for the girl Júlia”, with text and staging by Tiago Rodrigues, on April 23, and “Fake”, a staging by Miguel Fragata from a text by Inês Barahona and Miguel Fragata, on 26 June.

Tickets for these three shows cost ten euros each and are at online sale, at the TEMPO ticket office, which is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 13:00 pm and 17:30 pm and on the nights of the show until the start and in the usual places that adhere to BOL, namely FNAC, Worten, CTT, Youth Hostels, El Corte Inglês , Stores Note! and Serveasy Network.
