Quarantine will be equated with “inpatient medical leave”, says Government

Ordinance that will be published today covers workers from the public and private sectors

The absence of workers from jobs that have to remain in quarantine due to the Covid-19 epidemic will be equated with "medical leave for hospitalization", to protect income, the Minister of Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira announced this Monday .

“I can announce that, in the next few hours, we are going to send a dispatch (…) to equate the cases of workers who have to be absent from the job due not to a disease situation, but to a situation of confinement determined by the authorities health care, equating this to a hospital discharge due to hospitalization ”, said Pedro Siza Vieira.
