For Isilda Gomes, «the expansion of this capacity to carry out tests is fundamental», hence the operation started «in less than 24 hours».

The mayor of Portimão also took the opportunity to remind that there are already 12 confirmed cases of the disease in the county and warned “for the continuation of the increase in cases over the next few days, either through the propagation of Covid-19, or by carrying out more diagnostic confirmation tests'.

This is the second video recording that the mayor has published in just over a week. In the first, he appealed to the population's spirit of responsibility, so that they comply with local and national recommendations, in order to stop the pandemic.

In this new recording, Isilda Gomes takes the opportunity to thank “the unique and spontaneous response of the majority of people from Portimo, who understood what was at stake and, even though not mandatory, decided to sacrifice themselves for the common good, from citizens to entrepreneurs , through club and association directors, who demonstrated a sense of responsibility and complied with the authorities' determinations, offering to help local health services, in several cases by providing means and equipment».

A behavior that allowed the disease "not to spread uncontrollably in this community" and that must be maintained, he appealed.

On the other hand, Isilda Gomes explained that the municipality's efforts "are being directed to ensure responses in support of the social and health area."

There are, moreover, several measures in progress, “in articulation with the living forces of the council, but for which everyone is called to collaborate”. If you want to volunteer, you just have to get in touch with the local authority.

"This vast team, consisting of the municipal executive, mayors of parishes, leaders, officials, Civil Protection agents and other cooperating entities will continue to do their best so that nothing fails, providing the Health services with all the conditions at our disposal to facilitate their demanding and heroic task», concluded Isilda Gomes.
