Covid-19: There are 62 cases in the Algarve, 12 in Alentejo, 2995 across the country

The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve rose to 62 (16 more than yesterday), while in Alentejo there are 12, double what was registered yesterday. There are already 2995 confirmed patients across the country (more 632), while the number of deaths rose from 33 to 43. The data are from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health, which has just been released.

This is the biggest rise ever recorded in the Algarve and Alentejo since the start of the new coronavirus outbreak. Compared to yesterday, the increase in the number of infected in the Algarve is 35% in just 24 hours.

In Alentejo, you know the Sul Informação, some of the cases are registered in the district of Beja, in addition to those previously known in Évora.

Despite the rise in the number of deaths, the Algarve has the same casualty.

 

 

As for the regional distribution of cases, the North continues to have the highest number of infected (1517), followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (992) and the Center (365). Then come the Algarve (62), Azores (17), Madeira (16) and Alentejo (12). There are also 14 infected people living abroad.

With regard to deaths, the North is also the region that has more deaths due to the new coronavirus – 20 in total. Lisbon and Vale do Tejo have 12, Centro 10 and Algarve 1.

At national level, there have been 22 recoveries, none in the Algarve and Alentejo. Of the 2995 cases, 276 are hospitalized, 61 of which are in intensive care. There are 13624 contacts under surveillance by the health authorities and 1591 people are awaiting laboratory results.

As of January 1, there have been 21155 suspected cases, of which 16569 have not been confirmed.
