Covid-19: There are 35 cases in the Algarve, 5 in Alentejo, 1600 across the country

The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve rose to 35 (4 more than yesterday), while in Alentejo there are 5 (more 2). There are already 1600 confirmed patients across the country (over 320), while the number of deaths rose from 12 to 14. The data are from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health, which has just been released.

The North region continues to have the most confirmed cases, with 825, recording 5 deaths since the beginning of the outbreak. It is followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 534 cases and 4 deaths, the Centro region, with 180 cases and 4 deaths, the Algarve, with 35 cases and one death, Madeira, with 7 cases, the Alentejo, with 5, and the Azores, with 4.

The Minister of Health, at a press conference just now, explained that «80% of confirmed cases are mild cases, which are under home treatment», with 169 hospitalized, 41 of which in intensive care.

 

 

Also according to data from the DGS, which refer to midnight yesterday, there are 1152 people awaiting the laboratory results of the analyzes they have already done (and they may or may not be positive), while 12562 people are under surveillance by the health authorities .

Almost two thirds of those infected with the new coronavirus are people between 30 and 69 years old, as shown in the graph below.
