Cívis promotes meeting on “The Algarve and the water we (don't) have”

There are four speakers and four views on the problem.

“The Algarve and the water that (we don't) have” is the theme of the meeting scheduled for the 12th, Thursday, at 18 pm, at Club FarenseOn Faro, powered by Civil- Association for the Deepening of Citizenship.

The guest speakers are Gonçalo Duarte Gomes, landscape architect, whose intervention is called “Tem avonde d'água”, Júlio Sousa, Municipal Director of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Câmara de Loulé (“Desalinization Plants in the Algarve, a solution?”) , José Paulo Monteiro, coordinator of the Water Science and Technology Center CTA-UAlg (“Lack of water – what solutions can be envisaged?”) and Teresa Fernandes, senior technician at Águas do Algarve (“Water – main challenges for the region").

The meeting is part of the commitment that Cívis assumed to promote a set of initiatives that will have the objective of «debating, listening, informing, proposing and intervening on issues related to the Environment».

«The strong presence and media coverage that climate change has gained in the public space requires us to open up to citizens the necessary space for information, reflection and debate, supported by the values ​​of scientific and social knowledge, by the participation of distinguished guests and recognized activism », explains Cívis.
