This year, thirteen restaurants will participate in the Flavor a Orange Weekend, between February 14th and 16th, coinciding with the 4th Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja.
In this gastronomic and different weekend participate the English Café, Casa Velha, Churrasqueira Valdemar, Marisqueira Rui, O Barradas, O Pina, Paulo's Piza, Ponte Romana, Porco Goloso, Recanto dos Mouros, Sushi, Love, Ú Monchiqueiro 1 and Ú Monchiqueiro two.
Traditional dishes such as spare ribs in the oven with orange, pork rojões with migas with orange; haute cuisine such as duck magret with orange sauce from Silves, or creative and original dishes such as fried rooster fish fillet served with orange reduction or tuna muxama with orange and almond compote and even international dishes such as pizza of smoked loin with orange, mushrooms and peppers, Porchetta Tuscan flavored Silves orange or Duck with Orange are some of the proposals that will be served in participating restaurants, which will complement their menus with desserts made with Silves orange: puddings, mousses and pies, all made with orange.
In this edition, two hot air balloon rides and three weekends in three hotels in the municipality will be offered to all those who go to the restaurants and fill in a coupon that will be drawn during the fair and ask for an invoice, which must be attached to the said coupon.
This initiative is part of the municipality's strategy to promote the “Silves, Capital da Orange” brand, which seeks to give greater visibility to the orange product, emblematic of this municipality and its producers.
»A weekend entirely dedicated to gastronomy made using this product will highlight the unique quality characteristics recognized for many years in orange and other citrus fruits produced in this county, namely the sweetness, quantity of juice and delicacy of exceptional aromas », stresses the municipality.
For its part, the 4th Mostra Silves Capital of Orange will have its official opening at 10:00 am on February 14th. There will be several dozen exhibitors linked to citrus, wine, agriculture, regional products, sweets, handicraft and gastronomy, as well as some associations and local and regional entities.
The event has a partnership with the Algarve Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries, University of Algarve, Algarve Tourism Region, Silves School Group and Silves-South School Group.
