Pedestrian Routes of Baixo Guadiana have new information panels

Odiana replaced 14 panels

The rehabilitation operation of the Baixo Guadiana pedestrian path network, which was being carried out by Odiana since last year, is now complete. The tracks now have new informational and promotional materials.

Odiana recalls that «it was in 2005 that a network of 19 short-route walking routes was implemented in Baixo Guadiana, covering a total of 135 kilometers of trails through the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António. This network of routes is complemented by informative structures (panels) with the technical and landscape characteristics of the route, but also tourist information».

In this requalification, Odiana, with the support of the municipalities, replaced 14 panels, with renewed and updated image and information. Each panel now has a brief description of the region, indication of restaurants, accommodation, heritage sites to visit and useful contacts, all in a bilingual version.

Odiana recalls that, as the promoter of the Pedestrian Routes Network, as well as the Great Route of the Guadiana (GR15), "it has been listening to the various users, as well as territorial entities, carrying out, since 2019, interim maintenance and the installation of signage, support and promotion materials'.

The association emphasizes that «taking into account the growing trend towards Nature Tourism in the region and since hiking has become an important and valuable resource for the territory, this intervention will optimize the experience of those who visit and discover the Lower Guadiana».

This requalification is an Odiana initiative through the Promoturis project – Tourism and Cultural Promotion Plan, financed by the CRESC Algarve 2020 Operational Program and with the support of the Municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.
