Many women learned the art of sewing from an early age

A workshop entitled “Grandma's Cloth Bags” is the next initiative promoted by the Municipal Museum of Olhão – Compromisso Marítimo Building, within the scope of the exhibition people from here. The activity takes place on February 27, from 14:00 to 17:30, at Chalé João Lúcio.

Entries, which are free but mandatory, are now open and can be made by emailing [email protected] or by calling 289 700 103. Participants must have knowledge of sewing and bring the respective kit, namely thimble , needles, pins and scissors.

This workshop dedicated to sewing is part of the “Gente de Cá” project, started in January 2019 by the Municipal Museum of Olhão in partnership with the Red Cross Community Center of Olhão.

Using scraps of cloth, participants will have the opportunity to make a bag out of this material, thus making it possible to remember an activity that was part of our grandmothers' daily lives.

In Olhão, many women learned the art of sewing from an early age. This is one of the stories that the ladies who are “Gente de Cá” share with the community.
