Coronavirus forces the removal of Algarvian students from Turin

When they return, "there is still no indication that they have to be quarantined"

Three ETIC_Algarve students, who are doing an Erasmus+ internship in Turin, will be removed from Italy this Wednesday, February 26, due to the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Ao Sul Informação, Nuno Ribeiro, director of ETIC_Algarve, revealed that the three young people, aged between 20 and 25, already have «a scheduled flight from Turin to Lisbon, on Wednesday».

The withdrawal of the students from Italy comes after a note, published today, February 24, by the National Erasmus Agency, which read that organizations “may invoke the force majeure clause in mobility activities to China or to other areas affected'.

“In this context, there is flexibility to cancel, postpone or move the planned activities to these regions, safeguarding the general legal framework applied to Erasmus+”, says the same note.

Based on this, ETIC_Algarve contacted the three students who, revealed Nuno Ribeiro, were already «a little scared».

Italy, moreover, has been one of the most affected countries, with seven fatalities, in addition to 212 confirmed cases. The North zone is the most affected, with 11 municipalities in quarantine.

“Today, for example, they were told during the internship that they should stay at home and then we acted accordingly,” explained the director of ETIC_Algarve.

When they return, "there is still no indication that they have to be quarantined."
