the algarvian association X-EduQual (XEQ) was one of the institutions awarded in the second edition of the Caixa Social 2020 Awards, delivered on the 19th, in Lisbon.
With less than a year of existence, the Algarve association sees its work valued with one of its distinguished social inclusion projects.
Out of a total of nearly 400 projects presented, covering areas such as combating poverty, promoting social inclusion and sustainable environmental development, only 18 were selected.
Among them, the project «Let's Communicate? – Raising awareness for inclusive communication", with which the XEQ Association it intends to sensitize the community to the problem of social exclusion of the deaf community, through the placement of inclusive communication panels in public leisure places frequented by children.
The main objective is to awaken the interest of younger generations in learning Portuguese Sign Language by providing gestures that allow for basic socialization.
The awards were handed out on the 19th of February, at Culturgest, in Lisbon, and the X-EduQual Association (XEQ) is the first institution in the Algarve to receive this distinction.
