Tunes will have a new pedestrian crossing over the Southern Line

The construction of infrastructure represents "an important reinforcement for the security of local populations

The company Infraestruturas de Portugal will invest half a million euros in the construction of a new pedestrian overpass, in Tunis, with the public tender having already been launched.

The new infrastructure, which will have two spans and a reinforced concrete structure, will have access through stairs and elevators, ensuring total accessibility for users with reduced mobility.

With the construction of the new overpass, the two dangerous level crossings existing to the kilometers will be closed. 301,619 of the Southern Line e 302,145 of the Algarve Line. Both are located in Tunis.

These level crossings, despite being duly equipped with signaling and safety systems, «constitute a greater risk for pedestrians, since the crossing area is extensive and built on two railway lines», says IP.

The construction of the new pedestrian overpass will therefore constitute “an important reinforcement for the safety of local populations who, in their daily journeys, need to cross the Southern Line and the Algarve Line”, he concludes.
