Tavira hosts training on “Balsa – in search of the Algarve's Origins”

The initiative is aimed at cultural agents, municipal technicians, tourism professionals and the general public

A training action, carried out within the scope of the project “Ferry – in search of the Origins of the Algarve”, will take place at the Centro Ciência Viva de Tavira, on the 20th and 27th of Jeneiro.

This project, whose main objective is to study the archaeological potential of what remains of this ancient Roman city, is financed by the operational program of Algarve CRESC 2020, is the responsibility of researcher João Pedro Bernardes of the University of Algarve UAlg and has as partners the Science Center Viva de Tavira (CCVT), the Municipality of Tavira and the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

Aimed at cultural agents, municipal technicians, tourism professionals, the general public, the initiative will be trained by João Bernardes (UAlg), Celso Candeias (from Tavira City Council), Luís Oliveira (UAlg), João Afonso (CCVT) and Ana Ramos (CCVT).

16:30 pm – Roman City Ferry

January 27
14:30 pm – From the end of the ferry to the rebirth of Tavira
15:00 pm – Islamic and Medieval Tavira
16:00 pm – Visit to historic-archaeological Tavira
