Lagoa receives National Badminton Championships journey

Entrance is free

The second concentrated round of the National Badminton Mixed Team Championship takes place on January 25, at the Jacinto Correia Municipal Pavilion, in Lagoa. CHE Lagoense, the team that has been dominating the sport, will play at home and want to keep the leadership of the 1st division.

Currently, CHE Lagoense leads, together with Associação Académica de Coimbra and, to maintain its position, it will have to surpass Famalicense Atlético Clube and Clube Desportivo e Recreativo dos Prazeres.

The team from Coimbra will have a tough mission ahead of them to keep their unbeaten record against the Madeiran teams of CDRP and Clube Sport Madeira. Clube de Albergaria will also try to get the first victory in the competition in one of its two matches against rivals from the island of Madeira.

With only four places available in the finals and with the last two places in the first division condemning them to relegation to the secondary division, once again «high voltage and emotional encounters» are expected, says the Portuguese Badminton Federation.

After this concentrated journey, the first-divisional clubs will have only one match, so the Algarve stage can begin to define the final design of the 1st division.

Sporting Clube de Braga, the team that commands the 2nd Division, will face a tough test of its leadership in the meeting with the Academic Association of Espinho. A challenge between the only two undefeated teams (AAE with one game less played) in this division and that could be fundamental to decide who finishes the regular phase as first classified.

Clube Raquete Estrelas da Avenida, Porto Salvo Musical Instruction Society, Sports Volunteer Movement, Novasemente Sports Group and Lousã-Serpins Regional and Inclusive Badminton Academy Club will want to consummate their assault on the top-4 of this division to forward their presence in the final stage and escape to the places of descent.

Admission is free.
